It is well known that Apple computers cost way more than regular PCs and laptops. The question is, is it worth the price? The Apple MacBook MB466LL/A 13.3-Inch laptop is currently its most popular model. It cost 2 – 3 times more than other notebooks with similar specs. Here is a quick look at whether this notebook warrants its hefty price tag, or whether it is all fluff and hype.

Lets start by examining its specification. It runs on a 2GHz Intel core 2 duo processor. It comes with 2 GB of RAM and a 160 GB hard drive. Currently, this model cost a little over $1200. Lets compare this model to one of the most popular netbook models, the Asus Eee 1000HE. The Asus netbook runs on a 1.66Ghz processor, 1 GB of RAM (upgradeable to 2GB) and a 160GB hard drive (with an extra 10GB of online storage). As you can see, the Apple MacBook MB466LL/A 13.3-Inch laptop is just a wee bit more powerful than the Asus Eee. The Asus 1000HE currently cost a little below $400. Is it worthwhile paying three time the price for the Apple model?

Another popular 13″ laptop model in the market currently is the Toshiba Satellite A405-S2915. This laptop runs on a 2 GHz Intel processor, has 4GB of RAM (upgradeable to 8GB) and a 320GB hard-drive. This more powerful laptop costs just a little over $800, which is much cheaper than the MacBook.

So as we can see, the hefty price tag of the Apple MacBook MB466LL/A 13.3-Inch laptop is not reflected in its specifications. Is there anything else that warrants the hefty premium? Apple computers do have their own distinctions. For starters, they run on the Leopard operating system, which many claims (purportedly) to be user-friendlier than Window’s operating systems. Then there is of course the fancy mouse pad with multi touch recognition. Many say that Apple’s sleek design is simply irresistible. The MacBook’s display is a back-lit LED screen, which is quite rare among regular laptops.

There is virtually nothing that can be done on a MacBook that can’t be done on a regular laptop. In fact, there are way much more software out there that are specifically written for Window’s operating system compared to Mac softwares.

To sum up, the extra $400 that you will be paying for the MacBook would be mainly for the laptop’s design, fancy mouse pad and Apple’s operating system. In short, the novelty factor. If these aren’t good enough reasons for you to fork out the extra $400, there is really very little reason for you buy the MacBook.

Dell 720 Inkjet Printer won’t recognize black ink cartridge?

Yeah, so I recently got both my ink cartridges refilled at Walgreens and I put them back in to the printer. The color cartridge works fine but it keeps saying that the black cartridge isn’t in the printer and when I try to print something that is just black, it comes out blank. Help, please.
First person to give a decent answer gets ten points.

There’s really only one way I can think of to tell if it’s the cartridge and unfortunately that is to buy a new cartridge and try it. If it works, take the refilled one back to Walgreens for a refund on the refill.

Another thought is to see if there is ink on the electrical contacts (not the holes where the ink comes out) on the cartridge on maybe in the printer where the cartridge sits. Just wipe it off with a dry lint-free cloth.

Also if the ink ran out in the black cartridge, some printers will not let you install the same cartridge back in the printer. The printer logs the serial number of the cartridge and is looking for a new number. This is a scheme on the part of the manufacturer to get you to buy a new cartridge instead of refilling.

How do I install my Dell 1700 laser printer when I keep getting an error?

Normally plug & play (install) works great. On every attempt to install this printer, through a network or just directly to my tower, I receive the error:

The file ‘DKAAP2P1.XML’ on Dell Windows 2000/XP Driver Disk or CD is needed.

I have uninstalled/reinstalled the drivers & firmware updates from dell.com So any help here would be appreciated. Thanks!

The computer hard drive or hard disk drive is one of the most important pieces of hardware for both personal and business use. Today we store all of our precious family photos, videos as well as business and research data on external hard drives for many reasons and backing up data from the primary hard drive to a backup drive is a simple process that can be done manually or with software to automate the process. The important thing to remember is that backups occur on a regular basis.

Hard drives are mechanical devices (with moving parts) and will eventually stop working. This can be due to overall usage, virus or even a natural disaster such as fire or flood. Though fireproof hard drives vary from model to model, they typically are built to withstand fires up to 1700 degrees F and can do so from 30 minutes up to 1 hour.

Today, there are many fire safe hard drives available in the market that you can purchase for about the same price as a regular external drive. Most importantly it is beneficial to understand how a hard drive operates inside a fireproof safe to overcome the buildup of heat. Storing hard drives (active electronics) inside a fire safe is a new technique that has been developed over the last decade. In comparison to traditional fire safes where you would store a hard drive inside, the newer fire resistant hard drives can be directly attached to your computer, laptop or PC so you can easily backup directly into a USB storage device.

During normal operation the hard drives remain cool with airflow going through specially designed air chambers. Once the temperature of a fire starts to rise, tubes melt and seal off the outside heat from fire from entering. While the fire burns outside, water that is embedded into the insulation surrounding the hard drive begins to evaporate, creating a cocoon that keeps the hard drive cool. Once the fire has been extinguished by the fire department, the drive can be opened and the disk inside is functional. This means that the data inside can be recovered from the drive and used as if the fire never occurred. If a fire disaster does occur, all manufacturers of the external hard drives offer data recovery services and replacement hardware.

No matter what type of fireproof hard drive you choose, it is always beneficial to consider the pros and cons of all hard drives and backup your data on a regular basis. There are many independent consultants, computer stores and electronics retails outlets that can provide you with exceptional advice and guidance to determine the best storage solution for your unique needs. From the perspective of the homeowner or business owner that is currently paying for fire and flood insurance premiums, a fireproof hard drive can be a valuable investment.

you need to make sure the voltage and amps are the same, it should tell you on the black trasformer that plugs into the wall. read them both and if they are identical, they should be fine. If there is any change at all in the voltage or amps, + or -, I wouldn’t risk plugging it into my laptop and perhaps causing damage.

I would recommend getting the biggest size you can afford as it will cost you a lot more in the future if you run out of room and need another drive instead of wishing you’d bought a slightly bigger capacity. The passport essential has a sleek and glossy casing which can unfortunately scratch easily and also attract dust and the dreaded fingerprints. Setup of the WD My Passport Essential 320GB USB drive is really easy, just plug it in, start your PC and you are up and running. There are some useful utilities factory installed on the hard disk but they are not required in order for you to use the drive.

What is your opinion of the Dell Optiplex 760?

It cannot run Windows 7 for some reason.
It’s supposed to be able to run Windows 7 but it won’t. It has a 2.66 GHz processor, a 160 gb hard drive, and 2 GB of Ram.
