Connecting Toshiba Notebook to the internet?

I just bought Toshiba Satellite U300 notebook and I have no idea at all how to get it to connect to the internet. I know I have to connect it to my modem somehow, but i just can't figure out which wires goes to where..PLEASE I NEED HELP!!!

Modem? cable modem? Dialup modem? I'm assuming cable.

If you already have your cable modem setup and connected to the cable then simply plug in the cord from the modem to your laptop, reboot your laptop and you should be online. If its DSL there are sometimes other steps but it should prompt you when you try to use the internet.

The cable you need is an ethernet cable, also called cat5. It has 8 pins on it and looks nearly the same at both ends. Most of the time they are blue or white in color

I want to buy a notebook , Toshiba or Sony VAIO ? Why ?

Buy Sony if price is not a problem. I have Both Sony and Toshiba. My Toshiba laptop would shutdown automatically when I am in the middle of work. Reason being – it gets too hot and shuts down itself.
Sony on the other hand works like charm. Nice look, great performace, feature rich – sony VAIO has no comparison.
If you want to go for cheaper, dell is good price wise.
I got my VAIO for $600 from Office Depot thanks to deal posted @ http://www.dealsofamerica.com -
so I just love it at that price.
Make sure you buy a good configuration Pentium M, 512 MB, 60 GB, wireless card – at the minimum.

Toshiba notebook satelitte screen problems?

Hello and Helllpppppppp. Bought Toshiba Notebook two weeks ago. Daughter was playing game on early and now screen has flipped sideways, ie portrait (if stand it on side can read as normal) What has happened please and how can I solve, having a heartattack here!!

When you power the laptop on, does everything appear correctly? or like a portrait? If the portrait view only occurs in windows, then it's a software problem. Try booting in safe mode.

If it happens as soon as you turn the unit on, it sounds more like a hardware problem.

Very strange. Never heard of that problem in all my years as a tech.

I have a Toshiba 105 notebook I bought in the States. Can I plug direct into Korean electrical 240 with plug?

Toshiba 105 notebook bought in States. Do I need a voltage reducer in Korea or just the adaptor plug to fit into the wall

Before you plug it in check that little black box that is between the plug and what goes into the computer. On the back there should be a lot of 'gibberish' text. Look for something that is on the lines of 110V-240V, if it says that then that means it's ok to plug in the wall. If it says 110V without 240V being next to it (somewhere on the box) then don't plug it in!!!

But most Toshibas have a built in convertor in them and are pretty safe that way. best to get a surge protector though because you never know with 3rd world country electricity what might happen!
